job description

Purpose of the Job:
-To lead challenging technology development projects in the area of Yeast Biotechnology & Bio-Ingredients, in order to meet or exceed current and future business demands.
-To continuously scout and identify new ideas / opportunities in the fields of Yeast &Fermentation Biotechnology & Bio-Ingredients, aligned with company strategic pillars, working close together with Procurement, Innovation and other supply areas.
-Promoting synergies among the different zones in the world, integrating knowledge and support Global Innovation and Supply teams.
-To understand consumer insights and competitors┬┐ strategy, and to integrate this in the frame of Yeast & Fermentation Biotechnology initiatives, to ensure the right decisions are taken.
-Work in conjunction with Knowledge Centers linked to Brewing Raw Materials (Hops, Cereals, Barley, Malting, ..) and Co-Products (spent grains, spent yeast) to ensure that long term strategies are in place and approved, ensure to functional global authority experts are developed and present at global with knowledge transfer.
-Responsible to deliver prototypes on quality, time and within budget for Global Innovation projects.

your contribution

Education& Experience
-PhD in Food Science, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biology, Agronomy related to Yeast Biotechnology
-3-5 years of Industrial R&D experience in Yeast Biotechnology
-Expert knowledge on Yeast Biotechnology and bio-ingredients produced out of Yeast
-Additional technical brewing education & business-oriented qualifications are an asset
-Passion and excitement for the field of bio-ingredients for human nutrition
-Some practical experience with product development for human nutrition
-Experience with R&D projects
-Understanding of regulatory framework in key markets (EUR, US, Asia, South America) is an asset
-Demonstrated successful experience in management of R&D projects of high complexity and or risk profile (product, material and process feasibility / development / implementation)
-Demonstrated leadership and ability to impact and influence to move things forward, while balancing differing ideas / agendas
-Strong team player and target-oriented with respect for quality and timing.
-Demonstrated high ability to anticipate, support, drive and manage change, being open to innovation by generating new solutions and developing creative approaches
-Excellent communicator, very good convincing skills, demonstrated ability to translate technical items into commercial concepts and vice-versa. Demonstrated strong ability to communicate and negotiate with (internal / external) stakeholders in different areas and levels
-Able to bridge cultural diversity
-Committed to continuous learning and improvement
-Fluent in English. Additional languages are an asset
-General commercial and financial understanding
