Janssen Pharmaceutica has been named the best private-sector employer in Belgium following a survey with 11,000 respondents. Of those familiar with the company, 47% would “like” or “very much like” to work there. Jansen Pharmaceutica narrowly beat UCB and TUI to win the Randstad Award for the fourth time. Other winners this year include the cities of Ghent and Namur, which won the accolade of most attractive employer amongst local authorities.
Janssen Pharmaceutica follows in the footsteps of DEME as the most attractive private-sector employer in Belgium. These results follow a survey with 11,000 participants, carried out in the second half of 2017. Almost half of respondents (47%) said they would “like” or “very much like” to work for the company. Janssen Pharmaceutica narrowly beat UCB and TUI to win the Randstad Award for the fourth time, equalling the record set by GlaxoSmithKline. Janssen Pharmaceutica is the only company that has managed to retain a top ten spot ever since the start of the most-attractive- employer survey in 2000. One noticeable trend is a consolidation amongst the most attractive employers: at just four percent, the gap between first and tenth on the list has never been so narrow.
Amongst local authorities, which were categorised separately in this year’s survey, the (Dutch-speaking) City of Ghent and (French-speaking) City of Namur won the accolade of most attractive employers. Ghent beat Brussels and Hasselt to the top spot, and Namur had the edge over Brussels and Arlon. Further analysis of Ghent and Namur’s employer brands showed that the cities scored better than average amongst local authorities by all criteria (atmosphere at work, job security, work-life balance, etc.). As such, their attractiveness as employers is based on a broad range of aspects.
