The Global R&D Yeast & Fermentation Specialist manage and lead activities related to strategic projects in R&D, front-end innovations, exploratory and knowledge management, in the field of fermentation technology (bacteria, yeast) to deliver solutions to the business at Global & Zone levels.
The scope and responsibilities of the job are defined as follows: -Manage projects with external partners, and prospect opportunities to fund and develop new partnerships with external institutes. -Provide leadership in R&D projects (lab, pilot and industrial scale) by setting design of experiments, balancing resources utilization, cost and timing according to company priorities. -Support implementation projects in the different zones and provide the required technical support and solutions to ensure speed to market. -Play a key role in the Fermentation Technology Exploration Knowledge Center, by connecting key stakeholders, developing knowledge & new technologies, promoting synergies among the zones and supporting Global and Zone Innovation and Supply teams. -Drive the continuous development of fermentation technology capabilities at lab, pilot and industrial scale. -Drive the continuous development of advanced analytical capabilities to support exploration, development and validation of fermentation technologies. -Develop, share and manage knowledge/expertise to find and promote innovative solutions allowing increase profitability by maximizing quality, process efficiency and consumers preference for products.
Requirements: -You have a PhD or equivalent R&D experience (at least 5 years experience in industrial R&D), in the field of applied science disciplines such as Industrial Microbiology, Fermentation Technology, Brewing, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Food Chemistry, Food Technology. -Experience and skills in project management and planning. -Complementary expertise/knowledge in analytical chemistry (HPLC, GC-MS, and others) is an asset. -Experience in development and implementation of lab and pilot capabilities and methods. -Ability to influence and collaborate with people from the laboratory, experimental brewery, project team, external partners and other key stakeholders. -Manage exploratory and implementation projects in an environment with high complexity and uncertainty. -Work with a high degree of self-coordination and independence. -Strong team player with good social skills, target-oriented with respect for quality and timing. -Experience in writing projects for external funding is an asset. -Ability to deal with Intellectual Property matters. -Operate across different cultural and geographical realities, with flexibility to undertake short assignments abroad -Fluency in English (written / spoken), other language skills constitute an additional asset. -PC literate: advanced knowledge of MS Office & internet applications. -The job requires a project manager with proven leadership skills and capable of working effectively through cross-functional and international project teams. -Is a demonstrated team player with a high energy level; have industry, technology, consumer and functional knowledge and edge; with strong negotiating and leadership skills. -A mindset that embraces change as a natural part of business and demonstrates courage and optimism during times of crisis or change. -Complementary Technical Brewing education is an asset -Good negotiation and persuasive skills -Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
