The ambition of the Procurement department of our client focuses on growth and innovation. The global challenge for procurement within the group is to secure uninterrupted supply of goods, materials and services, while creating value for the business; by improving total cost of ownership, leveraging buys on local, regional and global scale and by reducing procurement costs. Therefore, standardizing and optimizing the procurement working processes are essential within this strategy.

AsTactical Project Buyer you report to the Site Procurement Manager Benelux, and serves as a procurement business partner. Within this role, you will mainly be located in Geleen, but other Sites nearby might be involved.

The objective is to Create and deliver value by capturing requirements as well as identifying opportunities, thanks to succesful partnerships with internal customers, whilst remaining fully compliant with the organization’s Procurement Policy.

Main focus within this role is contracting best value, whilst serving the business needs and delivering a compliant procurement dossier.


As a Tactical Project Buyer you have the following responsibilities;

            Procure local E&PM Projects with the focus on value creation

            To manage the Sourcing, Contracting and Procurement of assigned CAPEX projects

            Ensure compliance to both regional legislation and  global standards, to meet requirements, policies and procedures (including EHS);

            Execute Vendor Qualification and supplier evaluations

            Strive towards project supplier management from a continious improvement perspective: achieve best in class supplier performance and ensure delivery at most profitable conditions in the current market

            Manage complaint handling / claims and expediting

            Provide operational support when necessary, and solve critical procurement problems (second line trouble shooting)

            Connect with Corporate functions (Legal and Insurance).

            Share knowledge of procurement processes and policies with internal stakeholders


your contribution

            You have a Bachelor degree (or equivalent through experience) in a related field (purchasing / procurement).

            Tactical purchasing experience and preferably procurement specific education . (e.g. NEVI 1, 2)

            A minimum of 3 years of professional experience with internal customer base.

            Thanks to your technical background, you are familiar with manufacturing and materials.

            Capability of professional time management, communicate on progress and escalate if needed.

            You possess elaborate negotiation and analytical skills.

            Profound knowledge of SAP-MM.

            You are a flexible result driven Team Player with a Customer focused mindset.

            Excellent communication & interpersonal skills

            Fluent in English and Dutch, verbal and writing.
