Our job is to design, handle and optimize the supply chain. The scope for Logistics Services includes making sure material is delivered to the production facilities, packaging is available, vehicles are distributed to the dealers, and that management of material, warehouses and distribution ensures the availability of parts everywhere in the world. We make sure all logistics services are delivered with world class operational excellence.

Analyzes engineering drawing and specifications of product to determine physical characteristics of item, special handling and safety requirements, and type of materials required for containers
Work with purchasing and other departments to determine costs and feasibility of producing proposed packaging
Develops or direct development of drawing, specifications, samples, and written analysis of proposed packaging in order to present design for approval
Confers with sales representative to draw up contracts
Advises management on efficient packing procedures, innovations in packaging material and utilization of packaging material of all types
Assists with manpower and material usage in meeting budgetary/costs constraints, deadlines, goals and objectives for packaging operation
Coordinate external prepackaging needs
Assists goods out in the development training material for outbound protective packaging
Initiate and maintain stock profile of a range of packing material within pre-set objectives (including material value, part number ranges, and turnover rate)
Review customer compliant file for packaging problems and take appropriate action
You optimize and standardize the way of working to optimize the outbound filling degree
You are in contact with packaging responsibilities within the Volvo Group, external pre-pack responsibilities and packaging suppliers for troubleshooting, optimizing packaging and testing of alternative packaging material
You make sure that master- and other data related to packaging are always correct and updated in the systems
You investigate and implement structural adjustments to comply with legal provisions (e.g. shipping packaging for dangerous goods)
You collect the necessary information to be able to comply with the legal obligations concerning packaging (e.g. annual reports, formatting of a prevention plan)
You contribute to continuously improve safety, quality, lead time, cost efficiency, environmental impact and employee satisfaction of our warehouse operations
You work closely together with the Logistics Engineers, responsibilities for Environment and Dangerous Goods and Operations (support all elements of ISO9001 and ISO14001 standards and regulations)
Develop ways of measuring and communicating operational effectiveness that generate business insight for the organization

your contribution

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Cooperative education/work minimum 5 years’ experience and campus involvement are preferred
Good communicator and team player
Strong perform an accurate administration
Knowledge about Industry 4.0
Knowledge in Lean Principles

Preferred knowledge of logistic processes and manufacturing
You can express yourself fluently in English and Dutch
Successful candidates will have a solid working knowledge of relational databases, computer programming, structured query language, and Microsoft Office Suite tools. Experience with programming languages such as C++, Java, Visual Basic, Bartender and CAD is a plus
