Your primary objective is to manage contractual relationships to guarantee successful project completion and optimal financial outcomes. You will directly impact the company's EBITDA, benchmarking global impact at 10% of the EPC contract value (€5M per year in savings/budget management).
You possess the autonomy to take contractual decisions within delegated authority and implement best-practice contract management.
1. Strategic contract management & compliance
Manage the contractual aspects of the main EPC contract and all associated workpackages, ensuring compliance with requirements across HSE, costs, planning, risks, and quality.
Actively anticipate, manage, coordinate, and follow up on all claims, contract variations, and disputes arising during project execution.
Establish and maintain a strict schedule detailing all contractual obligations and monitor their proper execution, planning necessary meetings, and drafting minutes.
Ensure all necessary contacts (oral and written) are maintained with contract representatives to preserve the Project's rights and entitlements.
2. Legal interface & Risk mitigation
Serve as a critical support and potential replacement for the Legal, Contract, and Insurance Manager (LCIM). You will be the primary link to Luminus Legal teams or external advisors when support is needed.
Provide leadership to the Project Management team on proactively identifying and mitigating contractual risks at the execution stage.
Provide assistance regarding Contract interpretation, ensuring all project reporting (monthly, annual reports, risk analysis) complies with Financing Contracts and Project Documents.
Manage all contractual tasks through the critical commissioning and take-over phases, preparing any required documentation for dispute resolution or arbitration.
3. Project execution support
Attend site meetings to monitor the progress of technical issues, clearly defining responsibilities to enable pragmatic resolution while preserving the Project's rights and entitlements.
Support the Project Team in fostering a proactive Health and Safety culture among all contractors, ensuring compliance with legal and contractual HSE requirements.
Act as the company's compliance and ethics advisor, keeping records and interfacing with stakeholders to ensure adherence to standards.
This is a high-stakes, high-impact role with significant financial oversight.
Turnover in scope (Oversight): Approx. €500 Million EPC Contract (Engineering & Construction).
Impact on EBITDA: Benchmark Global Impact is 10% of EPC contract, targeting approx. €5 Million per year.
Team: You may directly manage up to 5 reports (depending on phase) and indirectly coordinate with 10 legal advisors.
Main internal stakeholders: Project Manager, Claim Manager, Luminus Purchase, Legal, and Finance teams.
Location: Brussels and Seraing (Mobility is required).
A strong understanding of contract agreements and associated contractual risks is mandatory.
Previous experience in contract management in the field of combined cycles (or similar large-scale energy/heavy industry projects) is essential.
Experience in managing contractual relations with OEM and EPC contractors is required.
Ideally, technical skills regarding engineering, construction, commissioning, and operation of combined cycle facilities.
Skills
Bilingual proficiency: Fluent in both oral and written French and English.
Negotiation: Strong communication, cooperation, and negotiation skills, capable of leading commercial term discussions or supporting Executives as a Subject Matter Expert.
Rigor & detail: A structured and rigorous approach to contract management with strong attention to detail.
Legal & financial acumen: Solid understanding of legal, financial, and contractual terminology.
Integrity: Capable of professionally managing highly confidential information.
