wheat technology associate agronomist

You will support the deployment of a new wheat hybridization system and the development of female parental lines with differentiating native traits. By helping build a sustainable, high-performance and resource-efficient breeding pipeline, you will contribute to increased grower value and future market opportunities

Working context

You will work as a team member in close collaboration with the Hybrid Wheat Technology Breeder, greenhouse colleagues and other supporting functions. 

Greenhouse and post-harvest activities – approximately 80%

·      Independently grow, maintain and evaluate plants and seed samples for female line development.

·      Monitor and document plant growth, phenology and diseases and apply speed cycling where feasible.

·      Set up crossing blocks, perform crosses, harvest plant material and process seed.

·      Plan and execute leaf or seed sampling for genotyping and Marker Assisted Selection.

·      Manage seed storage and inventory.

·      Operate, troubleshoot and maintain seed-processing equipment, including laboratory threshers and sorters.

·      Work in accordance with work instructions, standard operating procedures and safety requirements.

·      Collaborate with local teams and other functions on operational, technical and safety topics.

Planning, documentation and reporting – approximately 20%

·      Plan and prioritize greenhouse activities, materials and equipment to ensure timely delivery.

·      Maintain accurate digital records and inventories for plant development, crossing, harvest, seed processing, sampling and storage.

·      Review and report results and coordinate activities with the Hybrid Wheat Technology Breeder, local teams and other functions.
