Laboratory & Technical Responsibilities

• Advanced Material Testing: Perform hands-on characterization of combination products using mechanical testers (e.g., Zwick, Instron), dimensional metrology tools (Keyence systems, profile projectors), and spectroscopic/imaging techniques (e.g., IR, SEM, Optical Microscopy).
• Test Execution & Optimization: Plan, execute, and optimize mechanical property tests, including tensile, uniaxial compression, injectability/glide force, 3-point bending, and detachment/adhesion force.
• Data Analysis & Insights: Analyze and interpret complex datasets to elucidate polymer identity, morphology, and structure–property relationships, delivering clear, data-driven insights to address product quality, structure, and performance questions.
• Method Development: Develop and validate methods, define test parameters, and establish acceptance criteria for combination products and medical devices.
• Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments to ensure operational excellence, meticulous data handling, and strict compliance with laboratory standards.

Collaboration & Project Responsibilities

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Participate in cross-functional and matrix team meetings to present findings, foster scientific exchange, and ensure test outcomes are accurately integrated into product and process evaluations.
• Troubleshooting & Support: Lead global analytical investigations for commercial product portfolios as well as Discovery, Product Development & Supply (DPDS) organizations.
• Project Organization: Maintain strong project organization and clear written and oral communication across international, multidisciplinary teams.

• Education: PhD degree (or equivalent experience) in Polymer and Material Sciences (preferred), Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Physics, or a related field.
• Laboratory Experience: Proven hands-on laboratory experience in mechanical properties testing (e.g., uniaxial testing, injectability, 3-point bending, detachment force), fixture design, and sample preparation.
• Combination Product Knowledge: Prior experience with combination products and medical devices is a strong plus.
• Imaging & Spectroscopy Skills: Prior knowledge or experience in advanced imaging techniques (IR/Raman Microscopy, SEM, Optical Microscopy, XCT, and/or THz imaging) is a plus.
• Data & Statistics: Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, meticulous data handling, and basic statistical analysis capabilities.
• Personal Competencies: Fast learner with strong scientific curiosity, self-steering, proactive, results-driven, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
• Teamwork & Communication: Collaborative mindset with the ability to thrive in an international, global matrix environment. Strong presentation, written, and oral communication skills.
• Languages: Fluent in English (written and spoken).
