As the port operator of choice in the world's gateway hubs, PSA currently processes some 185,000 containers per day, and therefore PSA is one of the largest container handlers in the world.
In Antwerp, PSA operates 3 container terminals (PSA DGD / MPET at Deurganck dock, the Noordzee and the Europa Terminal) and 1 multipurpose terminal (Churchill Terminal). Over 85% of all containers coming into Antwerp, pass through one of these terminals. In addition to container handling, PSA is also active in general cargo handling.
PSA can draw upon a talented pool of experience and expertise of a workforce of approximately 3,000 employees in Antwerp to manage their complex operations. You will lead vendors & developers (in-house & outsourced / local and international) in application solution architecture, design & technical implementation that meet functional, non-functional and technical requirements in conformance with defined standards for existing and new applications. We are not looking for a pure architect or software engineer or someone pure on the business side. We are looking for someone who can connect the two worlds.
Capturing of requirements: • Capture solution architecture, interfaces, master data, data export/import, reporting schema, deployment, upgrade, diagnostics, frameworks, non-functional requirements like performance, availability… So that these can be included in the overall requirements of the design and implementation by in-house or outsourced delivery teams and in the verification & test plans. • Collaborate with other technical leads & architects to ensure fulfillment of integration requirements
Requirements sizing and implementation budgeting: • Estimate effort, cost sizing and budget to business requirements owners both on high as detailed level requirements • Collaborate with and technically advise business requirements owners to "right-size" the requirements by ensuring a common understanding and agreement of the technical considerations and tradeoffs between the requirements and the implementation cost <Lead the technical delivery teams in application solution design and implementation • Technically lead the delivery teams producing the design and implementation of the solution, ensure conformance to requirements, enterprise software and technical standards. • Lead in a practical, cost-effective, productive & timely manner • You are point of contact for the application solution delivery and provide clear coordinated communication to the delivery teams and other technical leads on technical matters • You are responsible for technical quality audits of design & technical implementation artefacts that are produced (e.g. coding, database scripts, packaging, installation, unit testing) and associated delivery review logs to ensure compliance with the technical requirements & implementation standards.
Change Request / Defect Repair / 3rd line support management • Estimate effort, cost sizing and budgets to the business requirements owners and application support for change request and defect repairs • Technically lead delivery teams in the implementation of the change requests and defect repairs. • Organize 3rd line support of the application solution with the delivery teams. • In the event of customers/users experiencing critical or major business disruption, requiring urgent response: technically lead the delivery teams in devising workarounds and/or defect repairs to resolve with lowered severity or repair
Technical consultancy, guidance, mentorship & coaching • Be the SME for the organization, provide input & recommendations to business owners, management, developers & architects • Consult architects and guide, mentor and/or coach other technical analysts.
This role reports to the Product Delivery Manager
Education & experience • Bachelor degree in computer sciences, engineering or technical sciences • min. 8 years of technical experience in enterprise system analysis, design, development and implementation (including at least 3 full project lifecycles) • Experience with working in cross-functional teams & leading offshore outsourced development & support • Exposure to/involvement in multiple product portfolio coordination
Technical skills: • Be able to understand different technologies, application designs & programming languages • Professional & technical experience in multiple platforms (.NET, JEE/Websphere/Weblogic), C/C++... • Knowledge of commercial and open-source java-based frameworks & libraries (Hibernate, Spring, JSF...) • Relational DBMS, reporting & query tools (DB2/Oracle...) • Business XML/Web services is mandatory, EDIFACT/X12 standards is preferred • Experience with highly usable web/desktop/mobile UI design and implementation • Knowledge of / exposure to professional development tool-chains (IDE/Eclipse, Version Control / SVN, build / Maven, Continuous integration / Jenkins, code metrics / Sonar • Knowledge of computer environments including server (AIX/Linux preferred), desktop (Windows), mobile/embedded platforms • Knowledge and experience of Enterprise-scale application SDLC and Time-Boxed Product Delivery Methodologies
