The Biologics drug substance Process sciences Scientist will be responsible for supporting cell culture and clarification steps at laboratory pilot-scale for the company’s antibody-based products.

For this position, we are looking for a person who is hands-on and a team player.

The position is based on the company’s site in Braine-l’Alleud. The Scientist may occasionally travel to other locations worldwide as part of their activities.

What You’ll Do:

• Design and execute stainless-steel and single-use bioreactors for assessing engineering parameters and prepare scale-up of processes for cell culture and clarification steps

• Act as a scale-down model subject matter expert to support scale-up and technology transfer for antibody production

• Collaborate with internal cross-functional laboratories and commercial manufacturing

• Establish and maintain scale-down models of cell culture and clarification processes

• Apply Quality by Design (QbD) principles, utilizing Design of Experiment (DoE) methodology to design, plan and execute experiments

• Manage projects related to cell culture as well as clarification of cell culture fluid

• Generate relevant documentation such as SOPs, study designs, guidelines and reports

• Participate to housekeeping of the lab (consumables inventory, equipment management)

• Bachelor or Master’s Degree

• Hands-on downstream laboratory experience

• At least 3 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry

• Experience in technology transfer and scale-up/scale-down of drug substance is a plus

• Very good knowledge of English both oral and written; knowledge of French is a plus

• Strong communication skills: ability to communicate effectively and connect with peers from different functions (matrix organization)

• Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills

• Good organizational and multitasking skills
