Perform laboratory-related activities in the Global Research Pilot brewery in the framework of global strategic and exploratory projects, front-end innovations and global brewing development projects. The laboratory-related activities include specific physico-chemical in-process analyses; sampling for micro and physico-chemical analyses; follow-up of fermentation processes and informing project leaders on the status thereof; purging of tanks; assisting in the optimization and validation of new laboratory methodologies and capabilities; etc.
- Accurately perform lab analyses according to good laboratory practices and internal standards and procedures. - Accurately perform specific physico-chemical analyses and yeast cell counts on in-process or final liquids. - Follow-up and control fermentation processes and undertake actions pending the values. - Monitor, review and report analysis results. - Actively participate in the development and optimization of lab methodologies/capabilities. - Prepare and plan analyses within the scheduled time frame. - Apply good laboratory practices/standards to ensure accuracy and quality in test execution and reliability of results. - Ensure that lab equipments are functional / calibrated through verification; troubleshooting as needed. - Ensure equipment and analysis standard operating procedures (SOPs) are up to date. - Identify and address potential risks that may affect the achievement of the project objectives/timeline. - Ensure traceability of incoming goods (e.g. raw materials). - Guard the cleanliness and order in the lab.
- Graduate degree in a relevant applied science or laboratory discipline. - Previous professional experience (min 1 year) in a development or research lab, in the area of Molecular Biology (yeast /bacteria), biotechnology, fermentation and/or brewing biochemistry. - Capability to independently plan, organize and execute lab tests and experiments. - Team player with good interpersonal skills and flexibility to adapt to a fast-changing environment. - Result-oriented with respect for quality and timing and attention to detail. - Pro-active attitude and problem-solving mindset. - Ability to interpret/analyze test results and provide feedback to the requesters. - Ability to integrate and generate internal/external best practices to improve processes/tools/services. - Practical mindset and pro-active seeing work (manual work, technical, analytical reporting, safety, 5S) that needs to be done. - Fluency in English required, other language skills are an additional asset. - Advanced computer skills, knowledge of standard software programs (Word, Excel, ...).
