We aim at developing functional ingredients using an innovative and natural process and optimizing this process in order to maximize ingredient functionality and production efficiency. Focusing on natural plant-based aqueous extractions from different botanical sources. The scientist will be providing scientific and technical assistance in the field of natural plant-based emulsions, performing extractions and associated activities at lab and pilot scale, conducting basic emulsion technology analysis and reporting results, conclusions and recommendations to scientists/technical team and engineers.

Principal Accountabilities:
-Participate to research projects within ingredient, Material and Nutrition team (IMN) and other businesses ensuring progress is in alignment with the project objectives and timelines
-Provide technical support within R&D projects in the field of natural plant-based emulsions
-Plan and perform (lab and pilot) plant-based process extractions in collaboration with the scientists and technical team in line with the site-specific safety and food safety requirements
-Perform literature studies as basis for planning experiments and experimental designs
-Make use of specific analytical tools linked to emulsion technology: rheology, particle size distribution, microscopy and others.
-Document trial results (process conditions, mass balances) and facilitates communication with internal contacts
-Record and analyze the results and establish trial reports including conclusions, interpretations and recommendations
-Plan and discuss interdepartmental work with the respective teams (i.e.: Pilot Plant, Applications and such)
-Perform (pilot) trials in a shift operating system if required (on average one day a month shift work, morning or evening shift (no night work))

your contribution

-Master of Bachelor degree in (Bio, Chemical) Engineering, Food Science, Food Chemistry, or closely related field
Experience:
-Food industry experience preferably in Research or Product Development
-Knowledge of food processing and food chemistry
