Unemployment
A temporary assignment is a normal period of work. The temporary worker keeps or acquires full rights to unemployment benefits, just like any other employee. If the next assignment is not started right away after the expiry of the employment contract, the worker should ask his/her Randstad consultant for the unemployment documents (C4) which are necessary to claim benefits.
Which documents go where?
The unemployment documents should be sent as soon as possible to the trade union or the Auxiliary Unemployment Benefits Fund. The person concerned should also (re-)register as a job-seeker with the VDAB (Flanders), Forem (Wallony) or BGDA (Brussels) within eight calender days. However, a worker who has worked for less than four successive weeks and was previously already entitled to unemployment benefit does not need to re-register as a job-seeker.
