Extras offered by individual companies
When the company gives its permanent employees shiftwork bonuses or meal vouchers, reimburses travel expenses or grants other benefits, temporary workers are also entitled to these extra benefits.

Calculation of pay
A temporary worker’s gross pay as indicated in the employment contract is taken as equal to 100%. The take-home pay is then calculated as follows:

White-collar Blue-collar
Gross pay 100% 100%
Social security deduction - 13,07% - 14,12%
Holiday allowance + 15,34% -
Social security deduction - 0,89% -
Taxable amount 101,38% 85,88%
Tax deducted at source (min. 11,11%) - 11,11% - 11,11%
Take-home pay ± 90,01%
± 76,24%
Advance holiday allowance included not included

Holiday allowance
All time worked as a temporary worker count towards the holiday entitlement and holiday allowance for the following year.

The holiday allowance is 15.34% of gross pay. For white-collar workers, this is paid in advance by Randstad together with every salary payment. Blue-collar workers receive their holiday allowance via the National Holiday Allowance Office in May of the following year.

Tax deducted at source
There are two tax deduction formulas:

  • Tax deducted according to a scale depending on salary and family situation, with a minimum of 11.11%
  • A deduction of 11.11% or more, as desired

It is advisable to choose the formula which reflects the worker’s salary and family situation.

End-of-year bonus

The temporary employment sector has its own rules regarding the end-of-year bonus. In order to have the right to an end-of-year bonus, a temporary worker must have worked 65 days during the reference period (1 Juli to 30 June), via one or more agencies. Certain kinds of leave, such as sick leave covered by guaranteed pay, recovery days and public holidays, count towards this total of 65 days.

The end-of-year bonus is 8% of the gross pay earned during the reference period.
The bonus is allocated by the Temporary Workers’ Social Fund. At the start of the December following the end of the reference period, this Fund will send a document to the worker’s last known address. This document has two parts. Part A is kept by the temporary worker, and Part B is completed and returned to his/her trade union or the Social Fund. In the former case, the trade union will pay the end-of-year bonus together with a union bonus; in the latter case, the Social Fund will pay the bonus during January.

Child allowance
Heads of family are entitled to the statutory child allowance. Randstad records the family situation of everyone who registers as a temporary worker.

Maternity allowance

Heads of family are entitled to maternity allowance. An application may be submitted from the sixth month of pregnancy.

Pensions
Obviously, all time worked for Randstad counts towards the pension calculation. This is done automatically.
